Take Pictures of the Forest in Early Summer!

Participate in the parent/child workshop, and learn to take great pictures of nature such as plants and landscape with photography tips and techniques.

Friendly Animals Festival

The Animal Protection Center of the city of Yokohama is holding a workshop for pre-school children.
The event features storytelling and singing on topics concerning animals, learning about nature and the habits of cats and dogs, learning how to pet them, crafts such as animal origami and making simple hats.

Yokohama Sound Festival 2013 Seeks Related Event

For approx. three months in autumn of this year, a big music festival will be held at various locations in Yokohama.
Yokohama Minatomirai Hall will be the main festival site.
The planning committee seeks related events that will make the festival even more exciting!
Application forms are available from the website (www.yokooto.jp), or from each ward’s Koho Sodan Kakari (Public Relations Section).
The event seeks sponsors and supporters among the participants at the same time. There will be briefing sessions for people who are considering to apply.

This contest which will be held later this year seeks photos of cruise ships taken at Yokohama Port between Sep.1, 2012 and Aug.31, 2013.
Sizes should be either yotsugiri (10 x 12 in.) or A4 (8.27 x 11.69 in.)

Program:
Lecture by Rev. Issho Fujita . “Aspects of Awaking”

Rev. Issho Fujita was born in 1954.
He studied developmental/clinical psychology at Tokyo University.
When he was a Ph.D student, he was deeply fascinated by zazen practice, and eventually he left graduate school to study Zen full time at Antai-ji, Soto Zen monasery in Hyogo.
In 1987 he became a resident teacher at Pioneer Valley Zendo in Massachusetts.
The word Budda is a Sanskirit word which means “The Awakened One”.
In his lecture, we explore some aspects of awaking so that we can embody the qualities of awaking in everyday life.
