Disaster Prevention Workshop for Foreigners

Supplemental Income Payment for Domestic Violence (DV) victims

If you are unable to receive Supplemental Income Payments due to DV, the City of Yokohama will provide you an amount equivalent to the Supplemental Income Payment and Special Support Allowance for Raising Children if you meet the requirements.

Eligibility: Those who fulfill all the requirements described below:
① Registered on the Copy of Foreign Register as of Feb.1, 2009;
② Currently living at an address different from your registered address because of DV;
③ Public organization can certify you are DV victim; and,
④ You have not received a Supplemental Income Payment in another municipality.
Amount of Supplemental Income Payment:¥12,000 per eligible person (¥20,000 for those who are over 65 or under 18 yrs of age as of Feb.1, 2009)
※ Special Support Allowance for Raising Children
Eligibility: In addition to the requirements described above (①-④), those who fall under the categories below:
① Those with more than 2 children born between Apr.2, 1990 and Apr.1, 2005;
② Second or younger sibling must have been born between Apr.2, 2002 and Apr.1, 2005.

Bank transfer applications for Supplementary Income Payments (Teigaku Kyufu Kin) are accepted until Aug.14, 2009. If you have not yet applied, please do so as soon as possible.
◆If you have not yet received the application form, please contact the call center indicated below. Please also note the following common causes of complications:
・Is there a nameplate on your mailbox?
・Have you moved recently?
・Have you had your foreign registration card updated at your local ward office after any changes such as renewing your visa? Foreign nationals who are registered on the Copy of Foreign Register as of Feb.1, 2009 with a valid visa that covers the date of transfer are eligible. Those who are registered with temporary visitor status and those who reside illegally are not eligible.
◆Application period for cash payments is Aug.24, 2009 to Nov.18, 2009; please apply at your local ward office.

Subsidies provided for specified infertility treatments

Starting in April, 2009 applications are accepted for subsidies for medical treatment costs related to specified infertility treatment (external fertilization/micro fertilization) win the range of 100,000 to 150,000 yen. There are other conditions such as:
a) limit of 2 applications per year
b) limit of 5 yrs in total
c) income restrictions

Renewal of National Health Insurance Certificate

A new National Health Insurance certificate will take effect from October this year and will be sent to you in September. Those who are delinquent in paying premiums may receive a certificate with shorter validity date or merely a qualification certificate.

Subsidies for setting up solar energy systems

Use of solar energy systems is being promoted in order to prevent global warming. Subsidies are available for individuals who install solar energy systems in their homes.
