Announcement about Burnable Garbage Collection

For the past 2 years, burnable garbage collection days in July and August have been increased to 3 times a week; however, it will be twice a week all through the year from this year. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Kodomo Teate (The New Child Allowance)

This new allowance will be provided to children until the last day of the school year (March 31) during which the child reaches the age of 15.
Recipients: Mothers or fathers of the eligible children, or their legal caretakers
Amount: \13,000 per child
Income Restrictions: None
Payment months: Three times a year; ①Jun, 2010 (for Apr and May), ②Oct, 2010 (for Jun thru Sep) and ③Feb, 2011 (for Oct thru Jan, 2011) From 2011 onwards, it will be; ①Jun (for Feb, thru May), ②Oct (for Jun thru Sep) and ③Feb (for Oct thru Jan)
Applicants: Applicants should be the person in the family who is the children’s main financial supporter.
To Apply: Application forms are being sent to the eligible families. Please fill them in, and return the forms to apply. In order to receive the allowance from June, you should apply by the end of May. However, if you apply by the end of September, you may receive the sum from June. You cannot receive the past payments if your application is later than October.
[Requirements for Foreigners]
Non-Japanese caretakers of the eligible children should meet the following requirements to be able to apply:
・Should have registered as a foreigner in Yokohama.
・Status of Residence should not be Short-Term or Entertainer. The term of residence should be more than one year. Applicants should work and stay in Japan as a basis of their living.

Kindergarten Tuition Subsidies

Subsidies of between \48,000 and \220,000 (depending on your residential tax submitted for 2010) will be provided to families with children who have enrolled in a private kindergarten between Apr.1 and Jun.1. (For children enrolled in a private kindergarten after Jun.2, please apply in Nov. 2010, or Feb. 2011.) The forms will be distributed at the end of Jun. to each kindergarten and may be submitted there.

Application for Public Housing for Elderly People

There will be a lottery held for placement on a primary waiting list to fill vacant apartments. These apartments are designed to provide a safe environment for senior citizens over 60, including barrier-free amenities and emergency call services. *There is no nursing care. *Housing will be available in the case of a vacancy between Aug.2010 and Jul.2011. *An income-dependent rent subsidy is available.
Eligibility: People who are living or working in Yokohama at the time of application. Age restrictions do apply.
To Apply: Fill out an application form available at any Ward Office Public Relation Section (Kuyakusho Koho-Sodan Kakari) or at Administrative Service Corners.

Kodomo Teate (The New Child Allowance)

The New Child Allowance Benefit Plan has been established.
Application is necessary in order to receive this allowance.
①WHAT IS THE NEW CHILD ALLOWANCE?
Children are important in assisting our future society. The New Child Allowance is issued to help support the healthy lives of our children. It is set by the law that families who receive this allowance should use it strictly for this purpose. Please use the allowance effectively for the healthy and good future of your children.
②OUTLINE OF THE NEW CHILD ALLOWANCE

(2) Revised Amount Application

(1) Change notification: change of names, change of accounts
(2) Revised amount notification: when there was a decrease of the number of children you rear.
(3) Termination notification: when you move out of the city or country; when you no longer rear children, when the recipient is deceased.

Renewal of Long-term Care Insurance “Fixed Defrayment Certificate”

Those who have “Long-term Care Insurance, Fixed Defrayment Certificate” (Kaigo Hoken Futankin Gendogaku Ninteisho), valid till Jun.30 and wish to continuously have this certificate from Jul.1, need to submit the application form for renewal. After receiving information and the application form for this renewal, please send the application form using an enclosed envelope back to your local ward office by May 28 (Fri).

Yokohama City Citizen’s Activity Insurance

This insurance system covers accidents happening during volunteer activities within the City of Yokohama. There is no need to apply or to register for this insurance system ahead of time.

Application for “Yokohama Live-in” (Managed by Housing Supply Corporation) Housing Units

Lottery registration will be accepted for the waiting list to enter family units. Income restrictions apply. Financial aid is available for those eligible. Vacant housing units will be provided on a first come first served basis to successful lottery applicants.
To Apply: Fill out the application form available at Information Services Section (Koho-sodan kakari) of your local Ward Office, Office of Public Information Access (1F of City Hall) or Administrative Service Center.
*Application form and Envelope with return address will be available from May 14 to May 31.

Student Exemption from National Pension Insurance Payment

Adults living in Japan, 20 years old or older, are required to pay into the National Pension Plan, but an exception is made for students meeting specific requirements.
Requirements: Students 20 years old or over with the previous year’s income being less than a specified amount. Those who wish to continue to have this exemption need to apply again.
Procedures: Those who have received postcard-type application forms, fill it in and send it back to the Japan Pension Service.
