Deadline for the Application of Teigaku Kyufukin is November 18 (Wed).

♦Application deadline for Supplementary Income Payments (Teigaku Kyfukin) is approaching.
Those who have not received Teigaku Kyufukin should bring the application form and the Foreign Registration Card to your local ward office. Cash payment applications will finish on Nov.18 (Wed), 2009. Applications after Nov.19 are not accepted, so please go as soon as possible. The ward office you should go to is the one which you have registered as a foreigner as of Feb.1, 2009. Application time is 9:30-17:00.

Book ahead with Free Cancer Checkup Coupon(s)

As an emergency economic measure by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Women’s Cancer Checkup Promotion Program is to be implemented in FY2009 by local governments across Japan. Yokohama City sent free cancer checkup coupons to those who were eligible for this program. With this coupon, you will receive specifically designated cancer checkups arranged by Yokohama City free of charge. Yokohama Municipal Citizen’s Hospital, Cancer Checkup Center usually accept appointment for the month but will now accept appointment for Jan.-Mar. 2010. The coupons are valid until Mar.31, 2010.

Seeking Foreign Part-time Instructors for Public Elementary Schools

Foreign instructors (of any nationality) are needed to teach about their own country and culture in English at Yokohama Public Elementary Schools. The conditions are as follows: 4-5hours a day, 2-3 days per week. Applicants must hold a valid visa, have English and Japanese speaking ability, have a university degree or equivalent, and live in or can commute to Yokohama. Applicants must be under 65 yrs. of age as of March 31, 2010. (Estimated salary is \3,150/hour. Transportation fee included) This position begins April 2010 and is on a one-year renewable contract basis.

Private Kindergarten Enrollment

If you have a child due to enter kindergarten as of April 2010, please note that the application form will be available at all kindergartens throughout the city starting Oct.15 (Thu). Actual enrollment registration will begin on Nov.1 (Sun).
There are financial subsidies available; apply after entering your child into a kindergarten. Also, 67 kindergartens throughout the city offer day care from 7:30 to 18:30

Research on Asbestos

The Ministry of Environment has provided a trust to fund research into the health effects related to asbestos exposure.
Eligibility: One who lives in Yokohama and desires to take this test, or one who have lived in Tsurumi-ward before 1988.

After applying, you will have an interview about your exposure to asbestos with a doctor at either Tsurumi chuo Chiiki Care Plaza (Tsurumi Stn) or on the 2F of the Nihon Odori Bldg (Kannai) sometime before end of November. A chest X-ray and CT examination will follow at a hospital in your choice during the month of December.

Influenza Vaccination for Elders

Eligibility: ①65yrs and older who is resident of Yokohama.
②60yrs and older who has functional disorder in heart, kidney, or respiratory organs/in immune system effect by virus that is equivalent to first degree disability.
