Bosei Maru, an oceanic survey and training vessel owned by Tokai University, will be open to the public. There will also be a mini-aquarium and other events related to marine life.

How to Receive Supplementary Income Payments

Sum of Payment: ¥12,000/Eligible person (Payment is transferred to your bank account)
*¥20,000 for those who are over 65 yrs old or under 18 yrs old as of Feb.1, 2009
Application・How to receive: Application form will be sent to eligible recipients (head of household for Japanese) in mid May. Please apply by postal mail with a copy of your ID (Alien Registration Card etc.) and bank statement.
*Cash payments are available only to those unable to receive payment by bank transfer (i.e., no bank account, etc.); payments will be made available in this case at your local ward office.
Application Period: 6months (mid-May to mid-Nov.)
(Bank transfers: mid-May to mid-Aug.; cash payments: in End of Aug. to mid-Nov., are being planned)

Check-up ticket for National Health Insurance Certificate Holders

Adults between the ages of 40 to 74 (born between Apr.1, 1935 and Mar.31, 1970) who either are already receiving National Health Insurance, or will begin to receive benefits Apr.1, 2009 and will maintain will receive a check-up ticket along with a questionnaire and a list of facilities that conduct this special check-up.
Those born between the months of Apr. and Nov. will receive tickets the end of May.
Birthdates between Dec. and Mar. born will receive tickets in early Aug.
*Make an APPOINTMENT ahead of time at the facility of your choosing, selected from the list provided; you must bring the check-up ticket, the questionnaire and your most recent National Health Insurance Certificate.

Change in “Post-Childbirth Support System”

Support is offered for mothers who have no other help during the day and/or seek assistance with multi-fetal children.
Eligibility for this service has been changed and is now ilimited to families on welfare, residential tax-free families, and income tax-free families.

Financial Assistance for School Costs

Financially disadvantaged families with elementary and /or Jr. High school students enrolled at Yokohama City schools may be eligible to receive financial assistance to help cover the costs of school supplies, field trips, school lunch, etc.

Application for City-Managed apartment

There will be a lottery to fill newly available apartments managed by the city. (New apartments include newly constructed and newly vacant)

“Hama-tomo” Card for Elders

“Choju-no-shiori”, which has been issued to persons who are over 65 yrs old, will be abolished at the end Mar. 2009. Instead, the “Hama-tomo" card, which began last Oct., will offer the same good-deal services pvovided by the “Choju-no-shiori”. Those who haven't applied yet for the "Hama-tomo" card, may apply at local Ward Office.

Subsidies for Tuition for 1,000 Home-Helpers

Those who finished the home-helper 2nd grade course at a school affiliated with the City of Yokohama and received employment through the Welfare Facility, etc. within the City may apply for a subsidy covering half/all school tuition related costs.
Limit: 1,000 people *First come, first served.
Eligibility: Yokohama Citizen who are employed through the Welfare Facility etc., and work within Yokohama city limits.
Subsidy: Half of the tuition fee (¥40,000 maximum) *Full assistance is available only to those who qualify.
To Apply: Obtain an application available at any affiliated schools, or at City Hall (Health and Social Welfare Bureau, Project Division/ Yokohama-shi KenkoFukushi kyoku Kikaku-ka) between Apr.1 - Feb.26, 2010.
