Runners Wanted for the Yokohama Marathon

The 31st Yokohama Marathon is seeking participants for the 10km marathon, the half marathon, and 12.7km wheel-chair marathon. The course is from Yamashita Park.
Date&Time: Dec.4 (Sun), 9:15-12:00
Fee: \5,000 for adults, \3,000 for high school students
Limit: 8,000 people *First come, first served.
Eligibility: For the 10km and wheel-chair marathon, participants should be over 15 yrs old. Junior high school students are not eligible. For the half marathon, participants should be over 18 yrs old. High school students are not eligible. Meeting Place: Yamashita Park (5 min walk from Motomachi Chukagai Stn on Minatomirai Line)

Summer Events at Kanazawa Zoo

①Extended Opening Hours
On Jul.30 (Sat), 31 (Sun), and on all weekends during August, Kanazawa zoo will be open until 18:00. *Last entry is admitted until 17:30.
Fee: \500 for adults *After 16:00, the fee is half the original price.
②Summer Festival
On Aug.20 (Sat) and Aug.21 (Sun), the zoo will be open until 20:30 *Last entry is admitted until 19:30. On these two days, admission is free, and there are various events and shows on stage.

Experience the Japanese Tea Ceremony

Sankeien is holding a tea ceremony introduction class. Use chasen (tea whisk) to mix powdered green tea with hot water, and enjoy drinking tea with a little cake! *Pre-school children must be accompanied by an adult.

①Artwork Wanted for The 16th International Children’s Art Exhibition
The theme for this year is “Smile”. It is hoped that people can understand more about each other by looking at pictures by children from various countries.
Locations of the Exhibition: 1. Aoba Ward Office 1F (8 min walk from Ichigao Stn on Tokyu Den-en Toshi Line), and 2. Art Forum Azamino (5 min walk from Azamino Stn on Tokyu Den-en Toshi Line)
Eligibility: Elementary school and junior high school children, in and outside Japan (You may apply personally, or by a group.)
Requirements: 1 picture per person, or up to 10 pictures from one group. Size should be within 38cm X 30cm.

Computer Course for Foreigners

Learn how to use Microsoft Word and Excel in a series of 9 classes. You will learn to make name cards, seasonal postcards, flyers by Word, and will make a home bookkeeping sheet, name list, and calendars by Excel. The course will also cover basic computer skills and how to use the internet.
Limit: Spots available for some participants who are able to bring in their own laptop computers, and spots are also available for those who do not have computers.
Eligibility: Non-Japanese who can read hiragana and katakana

46th U.S. Navy Negishi Bon Odori Festival

Message: The U.S. Navy Negishi Housing will celebrate its annual Bon Odori Festival.
It is an open gate festival. A full day of activities and entertainment is planned
including the performance by the U.S. military band and/or local rock band,
both American and Japanese food/souveniar stands, Bon dance, and more!

Aloha Yokohama 2011

An extremely popular summer event is coming back this year! During this 3-day event you can enjoy listening to over 70 groups, both from overseas and from Japan, who will be performing Hawaiian music and the Hula on stage, Hawaiian food, fashion, jewelry, souvenirs, and Hawaiian plants. There will also be workshops on handmade Lei and playing the ukulele.
