At Aoba International Lounge

Holidays for the year-end and New Year: Dec.25 (4th Sun of every month), Dec.29 (Thu) to Jan.3 (Tue).

2. Lounge Staff Wanted
Aoba International Lounge seeks staff to work in the lounge to help foreign nationals who live in the area. You will be supporting non-Japanese Yokohama residents by giving information and advice that they need. In addition to office work, you will also be participating in the events and activities that the Lounge holds. Rewards are provided. Please come to one of the briefing sessions if you are interested.

Eligibility: Those who have a volunteer spirit and are interested in international exchange. Computer and English skills are essential.

Kindergarten Tuition Subsidies

Subsidies between \48,000 and \223,200 (depending on your residential tax submitted for 2011) will be provided to families with children who have enrolled in a private kindergarten between Jun.2 and Nov.1, 2011. (For children enrolled in a private kindergarten after Nov.2, please apply in Jan., 2012.)
To Apply: Application forms will be distributed at each kindergarten in mid-November. Please fill one in, and submit it to your kindergarten by the end of November.

Seeking Part-time Japanese Language Instructors for Public Elementary/Junior High Schools

Instructors (of any nationality) are needed to teach the Japanese language at Yokohama public elementary and junior high schools.
The employment term is from April, 2012 to March, 2013.
The conditions are as follows: 2-4 hours a day, 2-4 days a week.
Salary is \2,800 per hour (transportation expenses are not provided).
Applicants should be born after April 2, 1947. In addition to Japanese they should be able to speak two languages, including at least one of the following; Spanish, Portuguese, Tagalog, or Chinese. They must hold a university degree or equivalent, and have qualifications as a Japanese language instructor.
Non Japanese applicants must have a status of residence that does not have any employment restrictions.
To Apply: By Dec.28, please send a Japanese CV with your photo, the languages you can use and your level of ability and within 2 pages of a 400-character manuscript paper (genko-yoshi), write about your motivation and the goals you would like to achieve. Application for Public Housing for Elderly People

There will be a lottery held for placement on a primary waiting list to fill vacant apartments. These apartments are designed to provide a safe environment for senior citizens over 60, including emergency call services.
*There is no nursing care.
*Housing will be available in the case of a vacancy between Jan and Dec 2012.
*Income-dependent rent subsidy is available.
Eligibility: People who are living or working in Yokohama at the time of application.

Tea Meeting with the Mayor

Meet and chat with the Mayor, exchange ideas over a cup of tea.
Eligibility: Group of people (5 to 10 people in a group) over elementary school age. Applicants should live, work or go to school in Yokohama. Elementary school and junior high school children should be accompanied by adults.
