Application for Elderly People’s Public Housing

There will be a lottery to fill apartments that have been designed to provide senior citizens’ safety such as barrier-free living and emergency call service. *There is no nursing care but a daytime-care facility is annexed. *Housing is available in Oct. or Dec. (93 units at Tsuzuki-ku, Nakagawa-chuo) Subsidies for rent are available depending on income.
Eligibility: People who are living or working in Yokohama and are over 60 yrs old at the time of application.
To Apply: Fill out an application form available from Apr. 15 at any ward office Information Service Section (Koho-sodan kakari), Administrative Service Corners and so on and send it to Yokohama-shi Jutaku Kyokyu Kosha. *Entries must be postmarked by Apr. 28.

Financial Assistance for School Costs

Financially disadvantaged families with elementary and/or Jr. high school students enrolled at Yokohama City Schools may be eligible to receive financial assistance to help cover costs for items such as school supplies, field trips, and school lunches.
To Apply: Notice for this Assistance will be given out from school to all students. Read this notice carefully, and fill in the enclosed application form, attach all the necessary documents, and submit it to the school.

Application for Municipal Housing Units

Applicants must be over 20 yrs of age, and have lived or worked in Yokohama for the past six months minimum. Income restrictions apply. *Types of rooms depend on applicants’ age and/or number of family members.

Scholarship for the Physically Disabled

Under certain conditions, a scholarship is provided for those who have the Identification Booklet for the Physically Disabled.
a) high school students or older
b) the student or the guardian should live in Yokohama for more than one year after receiving the scholarship
c) income restrictions
d) academic level restrictions
*Please refer to the application form as to the amount of the scholarship.
To Apply: From Apr.1 (Thu), application forms are available at each Ward’s Health & Welfare Center. Fill it in, and submit it to your school.

Nutrition Education though Sweets-making

This lecture given in Japanese will give you useful tips on how you can educate your children about nutrition and environmental issues through sweets-making that children love. *There will be no actual cooking.

Information Session on Homely Day Care

The City of Yokohama is working on a project of “homely day care (daycare moms)” that provides day care nursery services to small numbers of children in a homely environment at regular houses and/or apartments.
