Bird Watching for Anyone, Any Place

Instructors from the Wild Bird Society of Japan will introduce you to the world of bird watching. Beginners and the experienced, adults and children, everyone is invited! In case of rain, there will be a slide show program.

Autumn Pottery Festival

This annual festival features a pottery works exhibition, bazaar and try-out classes of ①“tebineri” (hand forming) ②potter’s wheel ③painting.

Yokohama International Festa 2010

A very successful annual event with so many visitors every year, Yokohama International Festa is coming back this year in fall at a new site. This event features international food, crafts, various music and dancers from around the world, games in English, performances and more that people of any age can enjoy. This year, “YOKOHAMA ACOUSTIC FESTIVAL 2010” presented by N.U. is also held at same site on Oct. 17.

①Participants wanted for Japanese speech contest
Please prepare a speech to be given in Japanese, up to 5 minutes in length. You may choose your own topic.
Eligibility: Foreign nationals who have lived in Japan for less than 5 years.

②Information session for entering elementary school
This is an information session for non-Japanese parents who wish to send their children to elementary schools in Japan for the 2011-2012 academic year. We will have a speaker from ME-net, education consultant group for foreigners. The session will be in Japanese. Interpretation is available upon request.

On October 1, Minami Shimin Katsudo Tabunka Kyosei Lounge (Minami Lounge) opened. Minami Ward is one of the wards in Yokohama with many foreign citizens (third in the city). The new Minami Lounge will serve to help foreign people living in this area.
