Parent/Child School at Minatomirai Sports Park

This is a parent/child soccer school hosted by the city, taught by coaches of Yokohama F. Marinos. There are a total of 14 sessions.
Date&Time: Every Wednesday,①10:00-11:00, and ②11:10-12:00, from Sep.1 to Dec.15.
Location: Minatomirai Sports Park (7 min walk from Shintakashima Stn on Minatomirai Line)
Eligibility: Children between 1 and a half year old and 4 years old, and their parents

Environmental Events at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise

There will be a panel display on the environment, and during the term, there are events such as making beverage coasters using wood from forest thinning (12th and 13th), and events in which you can touch different creatures from the sea (16th and 17th). These events may give you good ideas for your child’s summer vacation homework!

Learn About the Sea

Shinkai 6500 is a manned research submersible which can dive up to the depth of 6500m. This is an exhibition of the Shinkai 6500’s findings; panel exhibitions and videos of the organisms in the deep sea. There will also be sessions on deep-sea, paper craft-making.
Date&Time: Aug.7 (Sat)-Aug.29 (Sun); 10:00-17:00 *The museum is closed on Mondays.

Runners Wanted for the Yokohama Marathon

The 30th Yokohama Marathon is seeking participants for the 10km marathon and the half marathon. The course is from Yamashita Park to Yamashita Pier.
Date&Time: Dec.5 (Sun), 9:30-12:00
Fee: \3,500 for adults, \1500 for high school students
Limit: 3500 people for the 10km and 2500 people for the half marathon *First come, first served.
Eligibility: For the 10km, participants should be over 15 yrs old. Junior high school students are not eligible. For the half marathon, participants should be over 18 yrs old. High school students are not eligible.
To Apply: Application forms will be available from Aug.23 thru Sep. 17. Your Piece Wanted for World Children’s Art Exhibition

This event has been held every other year since 1981, and the last exhibition held in July, 2009 was by participants from 84 countries with about 21,000 pieces of work. Your piece is wanted for the coming 16th exhibition being held in July-August, 2011.
Eligibility: Children between 4 – 15 yrs old living or going to school within Kanagawa Prefecture
Condition: ①Subject for a picture: your choice
②Materials: watercolor, oil painting, crayon, Hanga (wood printing), Harie (a picture made by pasting multicolored pieces of paper), and so on *No breakable pieces or perishable pieces.
③Size: Within 54cm x 38cm. F8 or smaller for canvas
④Other requirements: an unpublished work by an individual person (no collaboration work),no pieces with frame.
