Measles/Rubella Vaccination

If you were born between the dates below, and still have not had measles/rubella vaccinations, you can get them free until March 31, 2013. After that date, you will have to pay for the shots.
Those who were born between April 2, 1994 and April 1, 1995 (currently 3rd year of high school).
Those who were born between April 2, 1999 and April 1, 2000 (currently 1st year of junior high school).
Those who were born between April 2, 2006 and April 1, 2007 (currently the eldest year of kindergarten)

DT (Diphtheria/Tetanus) Combined Vaccination

Notice for free DT vaccination is being mailed to children between 11 yrs old and 13 years old. This time, the recipients are those who were born between August 2, 2001 and December 1, 2001. They have been sent out at the end of December, 2012.

Loan Available for School Expenses for Single Mother Families

A loan for school costs will be available for single mother families with children who are entering high school, junior college, university, or vocational school, from next April. The loans are for three purposes: ①Shugaku Shikin (mainly tuition) ②Shugyo Shikin (mainly expenses for career training) and ③Shugaku Shitakukin (mainly enrollment fee). *Please contact Kodomo Seishonen Kyoku Kodomo Katei-ka (Child and Youth Bureau, Child and Family Division), as for the maximum amount. *Loans may not be possible depending on the result of screening. Please bring your withholding tax slip at the time of application. If you do not have the tax slip, please bring your payment slips for the past three months.
To Apply: Please apply at your local ward’s Fukushi Hoken Center (Health and Welfare Center).
Application Period: Feb.1 thru Mar.1, if you are applying for ①and③ or ②and③ at the same time.
Until Mar.1, if you are applying for ③only. After Apr.1, if you are applying for ①or②.

Loan for Working People

A loan of up to three million yen is available. Payback period is within 10 years. Annual interest rates are: 2.9% for tuition, club fees or costs for preparatory schools, and 3.3% for moving costs, cost of new furniture and other expenses for starting a new life.

Child Rearing Live-in Housing Units

These housing units authorized by the city are for families with children. Lottery registration will be accepted for 50 family housing units which will be available from March, 2013. Income restrictions apply. Financial aid is available for those who are eligible.
Eligibility: Families with children within elementary school age. *Children must not have graduated from elementary school at the time of application.
To Apply: Fill out an application form available at any Ward Office’s Koho Sodan Kakari (Public Relation Section) or at Gyosei Service Corner (Administrative Service Corners) and mail it or bring it by Jan.25 to Yokohama-shi Jutaku Kyokhyu Kosha (Yokohama City Housing Supply Corporation), Smile-In, or to Kenchiku-kyoku Jutaku Seibi-ka (Housing and Architecture Bureau, Housing Improvement Division). *Entries must be postmarked by Jan.25.

Application for Elderly People’s Public Housing

These housing units authorized by the city are for people over 60 years old. Lottery registration will be accepted for 28 housing units in Kanazawa-ku Kamariya-higashi, which will be available from July, 2013. These apartments are designed to provide a safe environment for senior citizens, including barrier-free amenities and emergency call services. *There is no nursing care. *An income-dependent rent subsidy is available.
Eligibility: People who are living or working in Yokohama and are 60 yrs or over at the time of application.

Yokohama Photo Festival 2013

An exciting photography event is coming back again this year! The Festival is composed of several different events, such as a portfolio review, where professional photographers review the works of amateur photographers, an exhibition, a symposium, and so on.

The 23rd Yokohama City Walk

Walk through the city of Yokohama and enjoy the scenery! The entries are for 10km, 15km, 20km, or 30km.

Location: Bashamichi Stn on the Minatomirai Line
Fee: \1,500 for adults, \500 for elementary and junior high school students
Limit: 3,000 people *First-come basis

Yokohama City Fire Band Concert

In this regularly scheduled concert, there will be original brass band music, in addition to the stage drilling performance by Port Angels 119.
